This section houses new maps for use in Red Alert multiplayer games against the computer in Skirmish mode or against other human opponents. Most of the maps are in zipfiles to make it easier and faster to download.
Note: some maps have alterations built in to change characteristics of some units / structures!

To use these maps:
Click on the filename of the map zipfile you want and choose a place to download it on your hard drive. If the map has a .mpr extension instead of a .zip extension then you need to download it by clicking on the link. Unzip the map(s) you want to your main Red Alert directory (usually C:\WESTWOOD\REDALERT).
This can be done using Winzip which can be downloaded for a free trial period.

This is not necessary for maps which are not zipped up (ie those which already have a .mpr extension). You can now start up Red Alert and choose the map(s) to play on from the list of maps in the multiplayer settings. Note, if you have several maps in your directory, Red Alert can take longer to load up (although it does not affect the gameplay). If you wish to remove maps simply delete or rename files ending with a .mpr extension.

Date Added: 01-May-2003

Description: Players start in the four corners of the map. Befor you lies a giant mountain. Scale the mountain to find treasure beyond your wildest dreams. Oh yes : build a base & defend yourself. This isn't my best map, however it plays ok.

Crossing The River

Players: 2-2
Map Size: 64 x 64
Theater: Temperate
Date Added: 01-May-2003
Author: Mark Major
Description: This is another small head-to-head play map with a river down the middle. There are only two crossings at the top and bottom. Players start in opposite corners with a little ore to start off with. The corners not used for bases are filled with ore, but the distance leaves harvesters open to attack.

Dangerous Grounds
thumbnail image
Players: 2-8
Map Size: 111 x 111
Theater: Temperate
Date Added: 28-Jun-2013
Author: GrandMaztahAce
Description: This wide untouched landscape may not be the perfect place to erect a command post for its relentlessly narrow paths and valleys. However, it is very rich in valuable minerals and precious ore which you can't just hand over to your enemies. So establish a base, secure the main roads and waterways and finally crush any resistance you may encounter. Beware though, the local inhabitants won't welcome you with open arms. So be careful when approaching their villages and houses.

Death Toll
thumbnail image
Players: 2-3
Map Size: 96 x 96
Theater: Temperate
Date Added: 22-Apr-2000
Author: SteelFist
Description: DEATH TOLL refers to the 3 "toll bridges" in the center which connect 2 small islands to the mainland. These islands are full of gems and have enough space to deploy a small base. Most of the map is connected by roads. If you loose your radar screen, follow a road. There are 2 separate bodies of water which appear conected but are not. There are numerous ridges and forests that a player can use for defense. I've been told that this map favors the allies. If you like the map or not let me know what you think!

Epsilon Quadrant

Players: 2-4
Map Size: 126 x 64
Theater: Snow
Date Added: 01-May-2003
Author: Sacrates
Description: More strategy driven than power based map. Large lake in middle promotes the use of Water transports and eliminates large Tank raids.

Equal Opportunity
thumbnail image
Players: 2-8
Map Size: 126 x 64
Theater: Temperate
Date Added: 16-Apr-2003
Author: Soleil Lapierre
Description: This map has an overabundance of resources, and every player gets the same starting conditions. There are only two passages connecting each area to its neighbors, so land defense is easy. Don't recommend a protracted 8-player game though, as you can generate huge numbers of units and slow the game engine to a crawl.
