This section houses new maps for use in Red Alert multiplayer games against the computer in Skirmish mode or against other human opponents. Most of the maps are in zipfiles to make it easier and faster to download.
Note: some maps have alterations built in to change characteristics of some units / structures!

To use these maps:
Click on the filename of the map zipfile you want and choose a place to download it on your hard drive. If the map has a .mpr extension instead of a .zip extension then you need to download it by clicking on the link. Unzip the map(s) you want to your main Red Alert directory (usually C:\WESTWOOD\REDALERT).
This can be done using Winzip which can be downloaded for a free trial period.

This is not necessary for maps which are not zipped up (ie those which already have a .mpr extension). You can now start up Red Alert and choose the map(s) to play on from the list of maps in the multiplayer settings. Note, if you have several maps in your directory, Red Alert can take longer to load up (although it does not affect the gameplay). If you wish to remove maps simply delete or rename files ending with a .mpr extension.

Description: Eight islands all connected to a larger island in the middle of the map. Bases are located on the smaller (but not too small) islands. There is no ore. Only jewels! In an eight player game, the first person to build a naval yard gets to wreak havoc on everyone else. It's not very challenging in skirmish mode, since the computer never builds any naval vessels. There is only one island that is too cramped for a good base. The rest are nice and spacious (although no way near spacious enough for anything on them to escape the range of a cruiser!)

Description: Lots of land area, debatable tactical advantages to using boats, and defensible base sites make this a fun map. The player who gets stuck in the northwest corner will have strong defense, but fewer resources and can be cut off from the rest of the map.

Description: This map is based on the great C&C multiplayer map, Quarters. There are 4 blocks of land in each corner of the map, all connected by land on the sides of the map, and by bridges connecting the blocks. It is very even, with enough gold and gems and water access for all. The way me and my friends usually play is with a 30min buildup, but this map works great with or without a buildup. Another reason that it's only for 4 players (besides the name) is Westwood's sloppy LAN networking code. Please mail Westwood and tell them that you'd like it to be fixed! Well, I'm off to battle.
