Other CounterStrike features:
New Multiplayer/Skirmish maps At least 100 new multiplayer maps, generally designed better than those that originally came with the game and better number of players suggestions.
16 all new missions 8 new missions for each of the Allies and Soviets which can be played in any order. None are particularly spectacular.
New Soundtracks 7 totally new soundtracks.
New Version of WChat Well, it's quite old now, but it is easily upgraded to the latest version and allows you to play head-to-head on the internet for free!
Latest Upgrade for RA CounterStrike also fixes a few minor bugs and improves speed of some animations. Mostly useful for those with slow graphics cards. Most useful though, you can now use the Name tag in your Rules.ini files to rename your new units!
Giant Ant Missions! There is a small secret campaign in CounterStrike involving the Giant Ants. This can be played by loading Red Alert with the CounterStrike CD in the drive and clicking the speaker in the top-right area of the Red Alert main menu while holding down the SHIFT key.
Counterstrike Requirements:
Red Alert Naturally you'll need a copy of Red Alert already installed to play CounterStrike. Note it doesn't matter whether you have the second mission disk - Afermath.
You cannot play with the new CounterStrike units in multiplayer mode. To play a multiplayer game of CounterStrike using the new maps, all players must have a CounterStrike CD, which is very unfortunate. However, I think that the Counterstrike CD can be used as a third Red Alert CD so 3 players can play regular RA without any more purchases! To do this a player with only regular Red Alert installed must host the game if playing over a network.
System requirements Windows 95, Pentium Processor 8 megs of RAM (16 MBs strongly recommended), dual-speed CD-ROM, 30 MBs hard drive space.
Multiplay requirments 28.8 kbps modem or direct internet connection, Winsock 1.1 compliant TCP/IP stack, or networked computers.
Video/Audio 1Mb Microsoft DirectDrawTM compatible, Soundblaster Compatible
Well, should you buy download it?
Why you should buy download CounterStrike: Why you shouldn't buy download CounterStrike:
  • Some 'new' units
  • Original Giant Ant missions
  • Allows use of the 'Name' tag in the Rules.ini
  • 'New version' of WChat.
  • The new units are in fact just old units with some changes
  • The new units are normally only available in missions
  • New Giant Ant missions are available in campaigns section if you have Aftermath
  • Aftermath is the same price in most places.
  • Red Alert patch for free is available which fixes many of the things CounterStrike fixes.
I'm not going to say you should or shouldn't buy CounterStrike because I've played it very few, but if you have any opinions on the matter then let me know.
