This section houses new maps for use in Red Alert multiplayer games against the computer in Skirmish mode or against other human opponents. Most of the maps are in zipfiles to make it easier and faster to download.
Note: some maps have alterations built in to change characteristics of some units / structures!

To use these maps:
Click on the filename of the map zipfile you want and choose a place to download it on your hard drive. If the map has a .mpr extension instead of a .zip extension then you need to download it by clicking on the link. Unzip the map(s) you want to your main Red Alert directory (usually C:\WESTWOOD\REDALERT).
This can be done using Winzip which can be downloaded for a free trial period.

This is not necessary for maps which are not zipped up (ie those which already have a .mpr extension). You can now start up Red Alert and choose the map(s) to play on from the list of maps in the multiplayer settings. Note, if you have several maps in your directory, Red Alert can take longer to load up (although it does not affect the gameplay). If you wish to remove maps simply delete or rename files ending with a .mpr extension.

Description: A large Island surrounded by water is everyone's starting point. Control of the narrow strip of land around the outside edge of the map is critical. Those who don't read this file or don't view the map before playing this will be at a disadvantage!

Might Makes Right

Players: 2-4
Map Size: 96 x 96
Theater: Snow
Date Added: 09-May-2003
Author: Skarecrow
Description: The level almost has a War2 feel to it because you have to blast through the trees. It was obviously) designed for 4 players, but it plays completely different (and not at all less enjoyable) with 2 players. This board also works quite well with the inital starting units set to 0. It is easliy defensable early in the game, no more early game ending strikes of 15 medium or heavy tanks.

Theater: Temperate
Date Added: 09-May-2003

Description: This is probably a great map for five to eight players, since there's a good deal of room to build bases in areas that lend themselves to defensibility, it's not easy to just waltz into your neighbor's back yard, so to speak, and there's plenty of money for eight people. The layout of the bases is somewhat like North By Northwest, one of the built in maps, but the bases aren't as easy to invade.

Description: This is a team play map, for four to eight players (you can play head-to-head, of course). There are two main landmasses, one to the north and one to the south, each with a river running through the middle. Two long dirt bridges connect the two areas. The land strips are easy to blockade, so air and naval strategy is important. There should be enough money to support eight people, and there are plenty of ore regenerators. I was going to include indivigual maps for four players, six players, and eight players, but I put in eight start points right off and for some reason couldn't delete them, so if your playing four or six players, I hope the Red Alert engine is smart enough to distibute players evenly, and not make it four against two, or three against one.
